Zoe Evans Cycles Cuba 2013

Over the past 15 years I have regularly participated in raising funds for cancer charities; cancer is close to my heart, as both my grandmothers have died from this disease as well as my uncle. It is from seeing people I love suffer from the awful disease, that I started fundraising to support the research into cancer
as well as supporting people who have the illness.

Every year I have participated in the Race for Life where I would organize a group of women to raise sponsorship for Cancer Research UK.
Over the 15 years we have raised £12,000!

In 2012 I thought…. What next???? I had been running the Race for Life for many years, I needed to look for a new challenge and look for
new ways to support cancer charities.

I then found Action for Charity who were running a bespoke challenge for “Women V’s Cancer” cycling 400km through Cuba to raise money for three cancer charities – I immediately signed up – this was not only going to
be a significant challenge for me (especially as I had not been on a
bike for a significant number of years!!) but it would be raising
at least £3,000 for three important charities: Breast Cancer
Care, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and
Ovarian Cancer Action.

So here I am February 2013 – I now have 7 months of training left before I embark on one of the hardest challenges I have faced! I am working
hard training 6 days a week, as well as fundraising to raise the
£5,000 target I have personally set myself.

I am grateful to MGFF Committee who are supporting me in raising funds,
with the amateur boxing night on 16th March and the
Family Fete on 21st July 2013.
