Festival Chairman’s Introduction
David Allan
Chairman
Brethren – I am going to write about exercising that
virtue which may justly be denominated the distinguishing
characteristic of a Freemason’s heart – I mean
Charity.
On this occasion I will dilate on its excellence. We have
all heard those words said to us before, most of us have
said them to an initiate and we have all heard them many
times. This is when we really live up to that distinguishing
characteristic.
As the Pro Provincial Grand Master has just announced,
The 2020 Festival will be starting officially on Thursday
March 19th – we are however accepting donations already
and have commenced selling merchandise at the Festival briefing
evenings.
Our Provincial Grand Master and the whole of the Executive,
both Craft and Royal Arch are fully behind this Festival
and ask that you too get fully behind it for it’s
full five year duration and do something extra-ordinary
for what must be the most important of our four main charities,
the Royal Masonic Trust for Girls and Boys, as it looks
after children and makes a real difference to the whole
of those lives.
The RMTGB exists to: “relieve poverty and advance
the education of children of a Masonic family and, when
funds permit, support other children in need.”
We have adopted a line that the RMTGB use as we feel it
sums up the whole essence of what The 2020 Festival is about:
